Our name and our hands have always been tied to leather. But curiosity has a way of keeping us restless — there's always the urge to try what else might be possible. And so, quietly, something has taken shape in the workshop that steps in alongside leather: a tote bag made from durable cellulose fibre.
The material has a few qualities that bring leather to mind — firmer than textile, it holds its shape with a quiet elegance, strong and hard-wearing. At the same time it's remarkably light and thin. A fully vegan version is in the works too, with straps that leave leather out altogether. And there's no need to fuss over a smudge or two: the bag wipes clean with a cloth and can be washed when it needs it. Here's a short clip of how well it gets along with water:
Before we call it finished, we want to know how it behaves in real life — and what thoughts it stirs in the people carrying it. That's exactly why we're looking for testers: people who'll take the bag along for a few days, really use it, and tell us honestly what they love and what still needs refining.
